THE PROBLEM

MANY ARE HOMELESS. MANY ARE HUNGRY. MANY WON'T HELP.

THE PROBLEM

Austin, Texas is home to many good things. Music festivals, restaurants, schools, and much, much more. However, Austin is also home to an unfathomable hungry population. America as a whole has a 12.9% food insecurity rate. Austin has 15.8% food insecurity rate. This should not be the case. We would love to decrease that percentage by as much as possible. We also want to decrease the amount of food insecure children. In Austin alone, there are 1,720 food insecure children as of 2016. Unfortunately, many of the children are not old enough to get a job, and pay for their own food. This job falls to their parents. Quite a few of Austin's families struggle because of single parents. Single parents often find themselves taking care of 2 or more children, and are unable to pay for them.

Homelessness is also a major problem in Austin. Many people get caught in unsteady jobs. An unsteady job means unsteady pay. With an unsteady pay, these people struggle to pay rent, and lose their homes. Once evicted, people are often unable to reach work or struggle to find a home, and can't work. This results in them losing their jobs. This is a path that is very hard to step off of. Some of the homeless sink into depression, and many other mental health and hygiene issues. We would really like to change that. If you want to help us or join our cause, please volunteer or make a donation to help us help them. Thank you!
